【摘要】:ThisTechnicalReportdescribesanddefinesthefollowingobjectivesofthefieldofGeographicInformation/Geomatics.?TodevelopaType3report,whichdescribesasystemforthequalificationandcertification,byacentralindependentbody,ofpersonnelinthefieldofGeographicInformation/Geomatics.?TodefinetheboundariesbetweenGeographicInformation/Geomaticsandotherrelateddisciplinesandprofessions.?TospecifytechnologiesandtaskspertainingtoGeographicInformation/Geomatics.?Toestablishskillsetsandcompetencylevelsfortechnologists,professionalstaffandmanagementinthefield.?Toresearchtherelationshipbetweenthisinitiativeandothersimilarcertificationprocessesperformedbyexistingprofessionalassociations.?Todevelopaplanfortheaccreditationofcandidateinstitutionsandprograms,forthecertificationofindividualsintheworkforce,andforcollaborationwithotherprofessionalbodies.WhilethebackgroundresearchleadingtothisTechnicalReporthasremainedtruetotheframeworkprovidedbytheseobjectives,thefocushasshiftedtoamorecomprehensive,descriptivestudyofthecurrentsituationinsomemembercountriesandtheongoingactivitiesofsomeofthoseinternationalprofessionalassociationswhichcoverthesubjectdomain.Thisisincontrasttoaprescriptivestudy,wherethesolutionwouldbedictatedbyISO/TC211.
